Role summary:
To be the Building Safety Act (BSA) subject matter expert, continually developing and refining the operational processes that underpin our BSA Centre of Excellence. The role will actively support main contractors, internal teams, and external stakeholders in understanding and meeting the requirements of the Act, driving adoption and best practice across the supply chain. It will also be responsible for delivering training and ongoing CPD to internal teams to enhance knowledge, capability, and confidence in applying BSA principles. Additionally, the role will represent the organisation at industry events and forums across the UK to promote awareness, share insights, and strengthen our position as a trusted authority on Building Safety.
Responsibilities:
• Act as the subject matter expert in the continual review of our Building Safety Act Operational Processes, ensuring full alignment with statutory requirements and the principles of the BSA.
• Lead on the continual development and refinement of operational processes that support the BSA Centre of Excellence.
• Develop and maintain clear, practical guidance materials, supporting tools, and resources to help applicants and assessors navigate the Building Safety Act assessment process with confidence and consistency.
• Design and deliver seminars, webinars, and awareness sessions to promote understanding of Building Safety responsibilities and requirements among applicants, suppliers, and contractors.
• Provide expert advice and support to main contractors and external stakeholders to improve understanding, compliance, and adoption of BSA requirements across the supply chain.
• Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, and forums across the UK, promoting awareness, sharing insights, and strengthening our position as a trusted authority in Building Safety.
• Responsible for the testing of new features and functionalities of existing schemes or the implementation of new scheme’s relating to Operational processes and procedures. Training, Development & Continuous Improvement.
• Deliver training and ongoing CPD to internal teams to enhance capability, confidence, and understanding of BSA requirements.
• Work with Team Leaders and the Scheme Governance Team to identify training needs and areas for improvement across all schemes.
• Support the continual improvement of assessment processes and services, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and quality in delivery. Governance, Assurance & Stakeholder Engagement.
• Ensure internal processes are followed in line with scheme governance and compliance requirements, supporting the maintenance of certifications and accreditations (including SSIP and ISO Standards).
• Deputise for the Scheme Governance Manager as Deputy Technical Manager for certifications and accreditations as required.
• Support other areas of the Scheme Governance Team in project and operational delivery, contributing technical expertise to cross-functional initiatives.
• Conduct formal investigations, analysing data and trends to identify root causes, determine resolutions, and report on outcomes. External Engagement.
• Support and represent the organisation at Marketplace Live and other external industry events, promoting engagement and awareness of Building Safety Act obligations and services.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and continual improvement.
• Actively contribute to the promotion and wider adoption of Building Safety best practices through presentations, publications, and participation in relevant forums.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
• In-depth understanding of the Building Safety Act and related regulations.
• Proven experience in developing compliance or assurance frameworks and guidance materials.
• Strong auditing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Skilled in delivering training, seminars, and CPD programmes to a range of audiences.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, both internal and external.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to cross-functional projects.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent, IOSH Membership.
• Auditor qualification with min 3 years’ experience, preferably IRCA recognised (Lead Auditor an advantage).
• A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of health, safety, and risk management. A comprehensive knowledge of current health and safety legislation, management, and standards.
• A customer-centric approach with strong listening, questioning and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail with good administrative and organisational skills, ability to prioritise.
• Ability to interpret and provide authoritative advice on health and safety and risk management issues.
• Ability to organise workload effectively for the purpose of meeting deadlines.
• Ability to demonstrate flexibility /versatility combined with initiative, drive and ability to meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a wide variety of contacts.
• Ability to work autonomously and flexibly, responding to business needs.
• Presentation Skills - qualities necessary for creating and delivering compelling presentations that effectively communicates information and ideas.
